How do I know if I have a problem with alcohol or drugs?
Every individual is unique, but there are helpful guidelines to determine if a person’s use of alcohol or other substances is harmful to their physical and mental health, productivity and participation in family and social life.

What is treatment?
Treatment for substance use disorders is designed to help people stop alcohol or drug use and remain sober and drug free. Recovery is a lifelong process. Staying in recovery is a difficult task; one needs to learn new ways of thinking, feeling and acting. Treatment can help give you the tools to accept, manage and live a life in recovery.

What kind of treatment services does Hina Mauka offer?
Hina Mauka offers treatment for adults through many levels of care including Residential Treatment, Outpatient Treatment, and Aftercare. We also provide innovative treatment programs for homeless people and incarcerated women, as well as treatment for teens, adults and families in need of assistance. In addition, we offer prevention interventions, school-based and community outpatient treatment for teens through our Teen CARE program. .

What happens when I check in for treatment?
When someone considers treatment at Hina Mauka, the first step is always a conversation with one of our intake counselors. Together, we begin to assess how a client might benefit from treatment and what form that treatment should take. If a client decides to be admitted for treatment, they then collaborate with a team consisting of counselors, counselors, a nurse, psychiatrist and treatment associates to develop their individualized treatment plan.

What happens during my treatment program?
Each client’s recovery treatment is unique, but some of the most common elements include:

• Group and individual counseling

• Education about substance use disorders

• Life skills training

• Relapse prevention training

• Follow-up or continuing care

Will I have to stay at Hina Mauka?
Each client is provided with an assessment of their unique situation and the level of care is based on that initial assessment. For some clients, Residential Treatment will best provide the kind of recovery program that is most helpful to them. For others, Outpatient treatment may be a more effective recovery program option.
