Teen CARE (Counseling, Awareness, Rehabilitation, Education) is an innovative school-based adolescent treatment program, in which middle school and high school students receive outpatient treatment during the school day on campus. The fact that counselors are located on campus facilitates consistency, visibility, accessibility of services and provides support for both staff and students alike. Treatment includes individual and group process, counseling, clean and sober recreational activities, and healthy role modeling.
One goal of treatment is to have the adolescent reduce or abstain from alcohol or drug use. We encourage the client to reflect on their behaviors and begin to take responsibility for the choices they are making in their lives and the consequences that follow. Our objective is to role model healthy communication and teach skills that will make life work for them: staying in school, staying away from illegal activity, giving and receiving respect, and learning that it can be safe and healthy to trust.
Teen C.A.R.E services are provided at the following schools:
Island of Oahu
Island of Kauai
Teen C.A.R.E is funded by the State Department of Health.
