Career Opportunities

Cook - Hina Mauka has a part time opening for a Cook. Must have prior experience, preferably in healthcare/institutional setting. This position is for weekend shifts and fill in during the week.
 
Treatment Associate - Per Diem openings for Treatment Associates at our Kaneohe facility. BA degree preferred. Candidate must be flexible as this is a 24 hour run department.
 
Per Diem Counselors
Per diem openings for Counselors at our Kaneohe and Waipahu facilities to help faciliate groups and assist with coverage. CSAC and/or MA degree preferred. Experience working with the criminal justice and mental health populations helpful.
 
Adolescent Substance Abuse Counselor – Kapaa, Kauai

Hina Mauka seeks a Substance Abuse Counselor to provide adolescent substance abuse treatment and prevention services through the Teen CARE program. Responsibilities include:

̀ Solicits referrals, screens clients to determine eligibility for services, conducts assessments, provides ongoing treatment planning, charts clients’ progress, and completes follow ups.

̀ Provides the core functions of substance abuse counseling including screening, intake, assessment, treatment planning, group and individual counseling, family counseling, case management, education, crisis counseling, discharge planning, continuing care treatment and relapse prevention.

̀ Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with referral sources including the school staff.

̀ Participates in school and community events.

̀ Creates a safe and therapeutic environment for clients through the establishment of healthy norms and positive expectations for clients.

Required qualifications include:

̀ Must pass a background check and be able to work with children

̀ Must have transportation, submit driver's abstract, and have a valid driver's license in order to transport clients

Desired qualifications include:

̀ Ability to work with a various populations, flexibility, and positive

̀ Experience with adolescents and substance abuse

̀ Computer skills

̀ CSAC, CPS, or Master’s Degree preferred, but not required

 
Volunteer Opportunities

Clerical Support Volunteer

  • Duties: Typing, Copy, filing, data entry, faxing.
  • Assist with mailings and compiling marketing materials.
  • other duties as assigned

Clinical Intern (Practicum Student)

  • Duties: Assist the clinical staff to carry out the direct therapeutic interaction with clients, in accordance with the Hina Mauka policies and procedures.
  • Sharing the responsibility for the safety and well being of the Hina Mauka clients.
  • The Intern will protect the confidentiality of clients and client records in accordance with provisions of 42CFR part 2.

Individuals who are recovering from alcohol/chemical dependency or any behavioral disorder must have at least three years of continuous recovery in order to be eligible to participate in the volunteer/intern program.

Requirements for Volunteers

  • One 4-hour shift per week
  • Current 2-Step TB test or X-ray (done within last year)
  • Medical infectious disease clearance and physical from a physician (forms will be provided)
  • Copy of Medical Insurance Card
  • Completion of Safety Orientation with our Facilities/Safety Manager
  • Completion of miscellaneous forms (forms will be provided)
  • Dress code: business attire/aloha wear, no slippers or beach wear (Friday is casual dress day)
